Hope-in-Action
In March of 2009, four friends simply said "yes" to the inspiration to do something about human trafficking. Rescue The Girl started as an event to raise enough money to at least rescue one girl from the horrors of modern slavery. Within just a few weeks the four friends were on a plane to India to film a documentary about the tragedy and hope of modern slavery. Little did we know what we were getting ourselves into.
This July our team is going back to India to bring hope and healing to girls rescued from the horrors of the brothels. We're going on the ground, into the thick of it, to tell them that they are worth fighting for as we hand-deliver inspired art, personal messages, and nearly $10,000 in aftercare raised by hundreds of students and ordinary people like you and me. We're showing them how valuable and loved they really are!
Inspire the Movement
We're going to several schools and universities to help inspire a student-led abolitionist movement in India!
Though it is the number one country for slavery, India desperately needs a native in-country fight against human trafficking.
This summer, with our friends at Project Rescue, we will start a fire for abolition in the heart of India's future leaders. We will demonstrate, train, and equip our friends on the ground in Pune, India to continue the student abolition movement long after we're gone. Is this a unique opportunity or what?
Develop the Dream
Last summer we saw the solution in action when we spent several days living with Matthew and Suha Daniel (directors of Project Rescue in Pune, India) and their 15 amazing rescued girls. We witnessed the awe-inspiring wholeness and healing of these girls who had been tortured and beaten within an inch of their life. All 15 girls were now becoming abolitionists themselves and five of them told us of their nightmare of slavery on film in the hopes that "...more girls would be rescued".
This year we are sitting down one-on-one with Matthew and Suha Daniel to discuss an exclusive opportunity to be part of the on-going solution they've pioneered.
This is an important next step in developing the dream of how we can collaborate, build, create, and connect Rescue The Girl with solutions that we know are already working! We're talking about building self-sustaining micro-economies for these girls, creative internship programs for US abolitionists, and much more! This could be HUGE!
